LITTLE LANGDALE 13 - 15 Nov

Postby mike f » Tue Sep 01, 2009 5:10 pm

Little Langdale Hut trip

Probably the clubs favorite hut trip. A cosy cottage nestling in the heart of slate country in Little Langdale.
At the foot of Weatherlam, and handy for Langdales. Also lots of blue bits locally for those how like to get wet, and Grizedale is close for the cyclists.

Cost is £10 per night.

Penny

Duncan
Nadine
Dave
Les

Those who have not yet paid bring your cheque book to Pub Night on Tuesday.
There is limited parking outside the cottage, so it will be a advantage if we can reduce the number of cars by sharing. The nearest additional parking is about 1/2 mile away. We can discuss at Pub Nigh

DIRECTIONS

Hut Addresss is : 2 New Houses, Little Langdale, AMBLESIDE, Cumbria, LA22 9PB
Grid Ref: NY 315030

From Ambleside, follow A593 (Coniston, Langdale). At Skelwith Bridge, ignore signs for Great Langdale, continue for about a mile, then turn right for Little Langdale. On arriving at Little Langdale call in at the Three Shire Pub. Either Penny or I will have the key, I will post up what time we will arrive during the week.

Just after the Three Shires, turn left done a narrow lane. The lane descends, there is a sharp left, and then curves gradually round to the right. The cottage is the last cottage in a small, white painted row of terraced cottages, which is set at right angles to the road.
The cottages are the last building before the road deteriorates into a rutted track. If you get to the ford, you have gone too far.

For those who have not been there before the hut has a good size kitchen which is fully equipped with pans, crockery and cutley. The sleeping arrangements are bunkbeds, you will require sleeping bags and if you wish a pillow (or stuff sack). There are good showers and toilets. The nearest store is in Chapel Stile, so it is best to bring your food etc. with you. As a general rule we tend to go to the pub for evening meals, but facilities are there to be fully self catering.

Penny, has the key and should be there by approx 1900 hrs. Check out the pub car park for a red car with a disgusting coloured canoe on top.
( I am not impuning her character by suggesting you check the pub first. It just she won't go into a dark hut on her own).

I'm happy to car share if anyone is coming back early-ish on Sunday (maybe leaving about lunchtime)? Can't get away very early on Friday, but could be ready by around 5pm if I make an effort. Let me know if this suits anyone - don't mind either driving or sharing petrol costs.

Cheers!

I'm heading over with Phil - probably leaving Durham at 7ish. Sue - I could give you a lift Friday but want to do a full day Sunday...
Otherwise I have a spare seat.

Thanks for the offer, Pete, but I've got a heap of reports which I need to do for Monday, so had better head back early on Sunday - don't mind driving, just thought that it might have saved a parking space by the hut.

Cheers, see you there!
